FCC targets DJI Clones 🇺🇸

🚫 U.S. Could Ban DJI Drone Parts and Clone Brands

like Anzu & Skyrover

The U.S. government is moving closer to banning DJI drone parts, even when they’re used in other brands like Anzu Robotics or Skyrover.

Under new proposed rules from the FCC, drones that use components made by “restricted” companies — like DJI — could lose certification or be blocked from sale in the U.S. This means it wouldn’t just affect DJI itself, but any company using DJI parts in their products.

That includes :

  • DJI’s motors, sensors, or cameras

  • Software modules made or designed by DJI

  • Repackaged parts used in other “clone” drones

🚨 Why now? DJI is already on a U.S. military watchlist and faces a national security review by the end of 2025. If it fails, it could be officially banned — and any products using its tech could follow.

📦 Who’s affected?Drone brands like Anzu and Skyrover may be using DJI parts in their designs. Even if they’re U.S.-based, they could lose access to the U.S. market if those parts are restricted.

🔧 What does this mean for buyers?Existing DJI drones would still work, but:

  • New models might not be approved for sale

  • Firmware updates could stop

  • Repairs and parts might become hard to find

👉 Bottom line:The U.S. wants to close the loophole that lets companies reuse banned tech under different names. If these rules pass, it could shake up the entire drone market — not just for DJI, but for every brand connected to it.
